I love living in conservative America... land of free women; free to live, free to choose, free to live with whom they please... oh, wait. Nevermind.
NYU's Great Empowered Solution to preventing student suicides, now in the NY Times. How enlightened.
And, Japan is the best. Before putting stuff in a diff't language onto your body, even if it's just magic marker, double check it, OK?
It's just good business.
More later. I'm drowning in deadlines here at the Workplace of Doom, Dallas style.

Oh man, I actually lived in Carlyle Court for a year. It's not exactly a skyskraper. And this is very much in line with NYU's policy of nets and plexiglass in the library- the idea being to move suicides off campus, so that they don't embarrass the university. Shady, disreputable, and as I understand it pretty much common practice.

I liked the last line in that article:
'N.Y.U. officials said that work on the balconies would start in the summer, but that they announced the change now because it might affect students' room choices for next year.'
Presumably, this is so the suicidal ones know to opt for rooms offering more accessible means of topping themselves instead.
