I knew about rape in mallards, they're justly famous for it, but this is indeed a strange turn. Did I miss this one in the Ig Noble's this year? I don't seem to recall it.

this one's been around for a while; i think it made the Ig Nobels last year or the year before.
and yes, mallard drakes are famous for being possibly the only multicellular life-form more oversexed than adolescent human males. having once been one of the latter myself, i don't know whether to pity the ducks or fear them...
