And they are good.
It really is a binge eating issue. I've tried to just eat one of something, you know, moderation, when it comes to bread products, but I just can't. I either have to do what I'm doing, which is "no bread products!" and then have a cheat day once every couple weeks in which I eat a number of bread products, or have absolutely no bread products at all, which is tougher.
I hate this strange compulsive behavior. I need to go buy more books.

Unless you are on some kind of fad diet, bread shouldn't be an issue in moderation. Just skip toppings like butter, jam, etc, and try to stick to whole grain bread.

Yes. what's the bread deprivation? I love chunky whole grain bread - couldn't do without it...unless I had a nasty whear or gluten allergy or something.

The issue with bread is that I can't stop eating it if I let myself have it. I would love to do a moderation thing, but I tend to eat bread in loaves and sandwiches plural - it's really tough for me to dig in and do moderation when it comes to bread products.
It's never one bagel - it's three. Not one muffin, but two, and two slices of cake. I don't know what it is about this particular product, but I overeat it by the loaf.
So, it's best to stay clear as much as possible, particularly at work, when it's a frickin' buffet.

It's truly a physical addition, just like cigarettes. I am the same way with bread and bread products. Allowing yourself a splurge day every now and then is a good idea. Then you don't feel like you are totally deprived. Keep up the weights, etc.

I have a bread addiction, too. It's hard to cut it down, but it's possible. It's a battle of wills.
BTW, you have my solution for everything: craving chocolate or bread? Buy more books. Depressed? Buy more books...hehhee
