Hmmm...these rules seem as though they should apply really to any non-member of a particular group writing about that group. Very sensible!

Number eleven (Focus on: What does looking at transsexuals, transsexuality, transsexualism, or transsexual _____ tell you about yourself, not what does it tell you about trans) is... interesting.
I mean, I can totally see it. But there's also the Chinua Achebe, Heart of Darkness thing about using the Other as a foil for the Self: "Can nobody see the preposterous and perverse arrogance in thus reducing Africa to the role of props for the break-up of one petty European mind!"
(But maybe I just have that too much on the brain right now since I'm in the middle of writing a story that explicitly steals from HoD and Apocalypse Now...)
