In Which the Protagonist Has a Lot of Packing to Do

Oh my.

Also, I should be reading Wiscon-appropriate material, yet here I am, frantically devouring Gone With the Wind... what's the change, you may ask, as I've been trying to hammer through this book for months?

Well, I finally got to the Seige of Atlanta.

It is great.

Just try to keep in mind that Rhett and Scarlett are the bad guys.

Acutally, what really helped me get through a lot of the stuff with Scarlett was keeping in mind what Rhett tells her at one point in the movie, which is that if she'd been born a man, she'd be just like him. I love this idea about what happens to two very similiar people who've been raised in different circumstances as different genders, and seeing what tools they both use to get ahead.

If I didn't think of it that way, Scarlett would have driven me nuts during those first 300 pages.
